Harpenden Town were straight back in winning form on Saturday after a month without a match due to weather enforced cancellations.
It only took the Harps seven minutes to get on the scoresheet away at Southall when a Harry Hunt corner was blasted in by Sam James and Frankie Jowle headed home the rebound.
Harpenden dominated the first half but Southall came back at them after half time.
Charlie Gould fired in from 30 yards but the ball was tipped just wide by the keeper.
Twice Town goalie Connor Sansom tipped a shot over the bar in the last 15 minutes.
Then on 90 + 4 minutes Gould was tackled at the corner flag, the ball spilled out into the box and Gould reacted quickest to pounce on the ball and fire it into the corner of the net for a final result of 2-0.
Charlie leaves for New Zealand on Thursday for a year travelling but Town have a handy replacement in Alex Yearwood who has just returned from playing in Florida.
Manager Danny Plumb said:” This was an outstanding performance against a team that has got through to the quarter final of the FA Vase but we beat them two nil.
“Connor in goal and central defenders Tony Golder and Jack Cartwright did what was needed doing at the back and we had another clean sheet.”
Harpenden have now won 11 games on the trot in all competitions and are second in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One four points behind leaders Biggleswade but with a game in hand.
On Saturday (feb 11) the team are away to Hadley Wood & Wingate.
